Frequently Asked Questions

Are you open on public holidays?

No, we are not open on public holidays. In an emergency please call 55812000

Do I need to make a booking?

Yes, every time. Please call 55 812000 in business hours to make a booking. When possible we will see "drop ins" but owners with a booking will be seen first. Even in an emergency, try to give us a call first to give us time to prepare.

Can I email the clinic to make a booking?

No. We need to work out why you are coming and select the best time for you and for us, so please call 55812000 to make a booking.

How can I make a payment?

Glenelg Veterinary Services accepts Visa and mastercard, EFTPOS, cash and cheques. We do not run accounts at all, and payment in full is due after each visit (this reduces our costs so our fees are less). We have affiliations with several finance companies, so if payment is a problem, mention this to us early so we can arrange for you to make an on-line application for credit with one of the finance companies.

Do you make house calls?

Yes, we do occassionally make house calls. They are by prior arrangment, and cost extra, and may not be possible if we are short-staffed. because it is difficult to carry a veterinary clinic on our backs, we prefer to restrict house calls to those who are house bound. Please call to make a booking.

Do you do microchipping?

Yes. A standard appointment is all that is needed, or it can be added to any visit. Please call to make a booking.

Do you do cat grooming as well as dog grooming?

Yes. Please call 55812000 for details.

Can I purchase worm and flea treatments over the counter?

Yes. We carry a wide range of products.

What do I need to do to bring my pet to the clinic?

Dogs must be on a short lead at all times, and cats must be in a secure carry basket. These are also required to transport your animal in the car. If your pet is severely injured or unable to walk, you can make a stretcher by rolling him/her onto a large towel or blanket and one or two people hold the corners and lift.

Do you look after birds and ferrets and rabbits and other unusual pets?

We are usually able to provide straightforward care for these special pets.

Do you see injured wildlife?

As a service to the animal world, we will provide veterinary care to unowned wildlife free of charge. As much as possible, we prefer to do this during business hours, rather than after hours.

What times are you open?

8.30am to 5.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. 10am to 4pm Thursday.

If you have a question you would like added to this list please email us.
